Lori Brown is the Director of Impact and Partnerships, 4-year Colleges and Universities for Career Launch. She first learned about Career Launch while serving as the Director of the Center for Career and Calling at Seattle Pacific University, and immediately brought Career Launch to campus.

She became Career Launch certified before having her entire staff certified as well. And consequently, she and her staff trained hundreds of students to increase their own strategic social capital (proaticely creating relationship with employers of interest) and launch meaningful careers. It was the “highest good” Lori could bring to her students.

Having begun her higher ed career as an Employer Relations director, Lori knew the value of preparing students for professional conversations that would increase both their career readiness and career mobility. Pairing Career Launch with this focus helped her achieve broad buy-in across campus with the colleges of business, computer science, engineering and psychology. Eventually she inaugurated a stand-alone career development class focused on the Career Launch Method open to every student at every level. She didn’t want any student to graduate without it.

During her time in higher ed, Lori served as the Pacific Northwest Regional Director for MPACE (the Mountain Pacific Association of Colleges and Employers), and also served as the Publicity Chairperson for the national MPACE conference. Having spoken at national seminars and conferences for NACE, MPACE, NASPA, Career Leadership Collective, and the Liberal Arts College Network, Lori is a seasoned presenter who brings fresh ideas and energy to presentations.

Prior to joining Career Launch, Lori spent 10 years in higher ed and 20 years in the non-profit sector. Lori served as a chief fundraiser for the American Lung Association of Washington, led a national effort to increase funding and aid in the NGO sector in her role as Director of Sponsorship for World Vision, and managed large scale, international, national and local events such as the Goodwill Games, the Seattle Bumbershoot Festival, and fundraising climbs of Mount Rainier and bicycle rides through the San Juan Island, across the state of Washington and across the U.S.

Lori has devoted much of her time to fighting against systems of injustice and racism that target the poor and vulnerable. In 2013, Lori launched Seatown Volleyball, a high school girls volleyball program in her underserved neighborhood that provides low-cost access to volleyball skill and community development. With 60-80 girls each year, she recruited volunteer coaches and led fundraising initiatives while increasing volleyball skill development for the players. In 2023, she realized her dream of passing the leadership torch to players who had come up through the program.

Lori earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business from the University of Washington and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing at Seattle Pacific University, and is currently a student in the Seattle Pacific University Seminary.
